As you plan your local projects for the upcoming (2018-19) Rotary year, please consider scholarships at colleges and universities in our District that provide training, which complements Rotary’s Six Areas of Focus.  Scholarships are long term investments for improving the lives of people by providing the development of future leaders with expertise in these fields.  The Rotary Six Areas of Focus are:

  • Disease Prevention and Treatment
  • Water and Sanitation
  • Maternal and Child Care
  • Basic Education and Literacy
  • Economic and Community Development
  • Peace and Conflict Resolution
A current proposal is to fund two $5000 scholarships at the (North Dakota State University Department of Public Health. These scholarships would be available to undergraduate or graduate students in the field of public health. They would be need based with special consideration given to Native American or Indigenous Canadian students who are likely to take their acquired skills and expertise back to their local communities.

Remember,  every dollar your club invests may be matched by the District through the matching grant process. These are your dollars and are used the way you want them used! The deadline for submitting proposals for district matching grants is March 31. If you are interested in partnering to provide funds for scholarship opportunities please let me know. I can provide further information and help guide you through the matching grant application process.
