The Detroit Lakes Breakfast Rotary club would like to invite fellow District 5580 Rotarians to our annual ice fishing derby on February 10, 2018 on Little Detroit Lake. Our 8th annual derby promises to offer more than a typical ice fishing tournament. As part of the community's annual Polar Fest celebration, numerous activities before and after the derby offer excitement to last for days.
This year a community group is building an ice palace a few hundred feet from the derby with ice harvested from our own lake.  The palace will be 30 feet by 60 feet and over 24 feet tall—a real spectacle for our area!  The grand opening of the castle is on February 8th. There are numerous other events in Detroit Lakes during Polar Fest, just check out polarfestdl.com for details. The Poles n Holes Fishing Derby and Raffle has turned into the club's largest fundraiser, and if we improve on last year's attendance, we will certainly exceed 1,000 anglers on the ice!
