We have several important upcoming events in our District, which include many options for your Club to get involved!  The planning for the Rotary District Conference in Thunder Bay is well underway!  In this article I am including reminders of some important dates, providing information/flyers, and encouraging participation in the literacy display, project fair, and to apply for District awards.  Also, it is time for President-Elects and Club leaders to register for our District's upcoming LEAD “Leadership Experience And Development” training, formerly known as PETS.  If you are booking lodging, reservations for Duluth should be made by March 7th and reservations for Fargo should be made by March 14th.  Rotarians wishing to reserve lodging after that date will not be guaranteed a room or the special Rotary rate.  For more information and to register today use the following links: LEAD TRAINING - DULUTH, MNLEAD TRAINING - FARGO, ND

District Conference Memorial Service - I will need names of any Rotarians who have passed away since last years conference.  Please send a photo along with their name, date of birth, and date of death before April 5, 2018 to gloriad5580@outlook.com.

District Conference is an exciting time for our District, your Club, and it's members!  I have included some promotional materials for you to share at your meetings, on social media, and via email.  The word document can even be modified to include information specific to your club.  2018D5580Conferenceflyer 2018D5580DCSocialMedia

We would like to ask your club to consider a Literacy Display for this year's Project Fair.  At our last Conference we had a number of club projects which were great examples of Literacy efforts in our various communities.  Please contact Marge McPeak, Literacy Chair, at McPeak@northlc.com, if you have a literacy project to display.

Having a table at the Project Fair is a great way to meet Rotary members, promote your club and service efforts, and find partners.  Sharing your clubs' priorities and your community's needs increases the likelihood that your service projects will find support.  If you are interested in having a table at the Project Fair, please contact Dawn Sebesta at dmsebesta@gmail.com.

Our District Awards Chairperson, Julie A. Rothmeier, would like to encourage every club to submit at least one nomination for an award.  We have great clubs in our District, and great Rotarians!!  Let’s recognize them at the District Conference, with the awards they deserve.  Submitting the award is very easy.  Go to our District Website, http://rotary5580.org/sitepage/awards to choose the award you wish to submit, fill in the information and submit.  All nominations must be submitted by April 1, 2018.  Let’s share with others, how your club is making a difference.

We would like to remind you of the need for Rotary Clubs to send or bring items for the Silent Auction at the Conference.  Irene Sottile will be the primary contact person for the Silent Auction and she will need to receive details on donated items.  You can provide information directly to Irene at irenesottile@hotmail.com.

As you can see, there are many ways for your club to be involved at District Conference.  We look forward to seeing you there!  http://rotary5580.org/page/2018-district-conference-thunder-bay-ontario
