It is my distinct honor to invite you to LEAD - Leadership Experience and Development.  LEAD is District 5580’s new strategic and innovative method of equipping Rotarians like yourself for leadership success at the club level, replacing PETS.
We recognize that as a Rotarian and a volunteer you are contributing one of your most precious resources, your time, to serve your club in 2018-19.  We also know that participating in LEAD requires you in many cases to travel significant distances and give up a Saturday all in the name of Rotary.  As a result, District 5580 is committed to providing you with a worthwhile return on your investment.  LEAD training will help you get the most out of your time as Club President, cultivate valuable skills, build relationships with your peers, and hone skills that will equally benefit your own career and personal development.  LEAD will teach you to ask the right questions and develop strategies to successfully accomplish goals.  On July 1, 2018, you will assume the position of Club President with confidence and inspiration.

New this year is the opportunity to engage with other Rotarians prior to LEAD.  A social will be held the Friday evening before LEAD as indicated on the attached schedule.  Talk Rotary if you must, but this will be a time to meet new friends, have fun, and experience one of the primary functions of Rotary – fellowship, before getting down to business Saturday morning.  This social is completely optional, but if you live nearby or plan to arrive the evening before, it is sure to be a good time.

Also new this year, we encourage you to invite other Rotary leaders within your club (President Elect Nominee, Club Secretary, committee chairs, or future leaders) to attend LEAD for no additional cost.  After all, leadership is not about being in charge, but taking care of those in our charge.  Developing the talents of those around us makes us a better and more successful organization.

I look forward to seeing our Rotary leaders at LEAD!

Blaine Johnson
District Governor Elect

*** The president-elect shall attend the district presidents-elect training seminar (LEAD) and the district assembly unless excused by the governor-elect. In such event, the current president shall continue to serve until a successor who has attended a presidents-elect training seminar and district assembly or training deemed sufficient by the governor-elect has been duly elected.  Article 13, Section 5 RI Manual of Procedure
