Submitted By: Gloria Mink, District Executive SecretaryAs the end of the 2017-2018 Rotary year nears, I reflect on why I decided to accept the position of Executive Secretary for District 5580. In my introductory letter, which was sent out almost a year ago now, I stated, “I find extreme satisfaction knowing that I am involved in an International Service Club of this scale. I love that we are active! I love that every club and each member may have unique characteristics, but we all unite for one common purpose- TO SERVE! The enthusiasm I have for Rotary has led to a greater desire to be more involved with District leadership and the communication of our efforts.” At that time, what I didn’t realize is how incredibly welcoming and supportive the District leaders are! It has been an honor to get to know everyone and I encourage any member of this District who would like to serve at the District level to DO IT!
In my introductory letter I also stated, “Every organization that recognizes the value of family and the impact we have when we work together is of high importance to me.” I am looking forward to the coming year working with our incoming District Governor, Blaine Johnson. His vision for this District’s future and his commitment to the involvement of families has me excited to see the accomplishments that will take place this year!
