Rotaract clubs around the district have been actively working to make a difference in their local communities.  Hilary Macdougall the president of the Thunder Bay Rotaract Club gives an update, “Rotaract Club of Thunder Bay has been busy these past couple of months since the beginning of the school year. We had our first meeting of the school year in October and decided to take on a service project to supply Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to Lakehead University students.

The Twin Ports Rotaract Club located in Duluth Minnesota are currently busy fundraising for the Polar Plunge that will be held February 17th here in Duluth. The Polar Plunge is a fundraiser to raise money for the Special Olympics so far, the Twin Ports Rotaract Club has raised $1,050!

Operation Christmas Child is an initiative organized through Samaritan's Purse in which people fill shoeboxes and these boxes are sent to children in need. We decided to order these shoeboxes and then hand them out at Lakehead for students to fill. As a club we also filled
shoeboxes. In total we gave out and filled 50 shoeboxes for the organization. Along with this project we, volunteered at our local Shelter House, went Trick or Treating for canned food and volunteered at our local Festival of Colours. Our club doesn’t just focus on service projects as we also ensure to have meetings in which we can get to know each other. This coming Friday we are going curling and in the past, we have gone mini-putting or had a potluck to name a few. The Rotaract Club in Thunder Bay is hosted at our local University and we are always looking for new community involvement activities to strengthen our ties in the community.”
