Erik Elsea, President of Cape Coral, FL, Rotary Club and ShelterBox Ambassador, embarked on a three-month adventure July 7 to raise awareness about Rotary and ShelterBox by canoeing solo down the Mississippi River from source to sea.

Our district was the first leg of his journey, and we celebrated the start of his trip at Itasca on Saturday, July 7. We're celebrating the completion of his trip with a Rotarian-organized fundraiser party in New Orleans on Oct. 6, to which you and all of your Rotary colleagues are invited! It will be a long holiday weekend and this year marks the 300th anniversary of the city. Save the date and share with your club; more information will follow.

I am leading the Expedition planning crew and organizing presentations all along the river. It has been so fun to share the story of ShelterBox and Rotary with groups and individuals and for every $100 donated to ShelterBoxUSA during this campaign (until Dec 31), you can adopt a river mile as a club or as individuals.
