New Organizational Membership Committee Structure!

In the new revision of our 2017-18 Membership Strategic Plan we (David Smette, Branden Robinson, and myself decided to try an experiment within the District to improve communication between the District and the District’s Rotary Clubs) by doing the following:
A. Creating a Sense of Urgency! Enlist a volunteer Army!
A Highly Visible Membership Crisis exists in our District and we need to establish a sense of Urgency as we have continued to decrease in Rotary Members in our Clubs over the past 5 years with the exception of 2015.
01-July-2013-3,045  -34
01-July-2014-3,041  -04
01-July-2015-3,070  +29
01-July-2016-3,029   -41
01-July-2017-2,884   -145

This past year we lost 145 Rotary Members from District 5580 which is the largest lost in the past 5 years so the membership committee decided that:

B. District 5580 needs to Build an organize a Guiding Coalition Membership Team that includes: District Governor and District Executive Committee
  1. Past District Governors
  2. District Governor-Elect and District Governor Nominee
  3. District Membership Chairperson and Committee and the New Revised Membership plan for 2017-18.
  4. The Membership Team - Donald Cavalier, David Smette, and Branden Robinson-proposed an experiment for the rest of this year to divide the District into 3 Divisions with the following Division Leaders:
The Western Division- Areas 1.2.3,5,6-Division Leader-Dr. David Smette; The Central Division- Areas 4,7,8,9,10-Division Leader-Don Cavalier and the Eastern Division- Areas- 11.12,13-Divison Leader Branden Robinson.
  1. Assistant Governors
  2. Club Presidents
  3. Club Membership Chairpersons
      8.  Club Membership Committee
      9.  District Public Relations Chairperson
      10.  District Foundation Chairperson
      11. All Rotarians of District 5580

We are optimistic that with the Membership Division Leaders working closely with the Assistant Governors, Club Presidents and Club Membership Chairperson or whoever is in charge of club membership that we can provide the necessary tools and information to help increase the membership in our District.

   C.  Form a Strategic Vision and Initiatives Vision
  • The Vision of District 5580 and Rotary Clubs Membership Plan is to increase our attractiveness to prospective members as well as to engage our existing members, thereby limiting attrition and retaining more of our current membership.

The major focus will be the communication between the Division Leaders, the Assistant Governors, the Club Presidents and club membership chairpersons and etc.  Every Club needs a membership goal and someone responsible in their club for membership.  The District is here to serve as a  resource to all clubs and provide the information and tools necessary to grow their membership.  Feel free to contact any the membership committee if you have any questions.  Thanks.   Grow Rotary!
