It’s customary for a Rotary president in the final month in office to recap the past year on this page, and I am proud of all we have achieved together. But I want to focus on our future, and that begins with polio.
A new Rotary year is starting. New goals, new ideas, and new projects. I look forward to visiting and meeting all the Rotarians throughout District 5580. You are extraordinary people who give your time, energy, and money to support projects that benefit many.

As another Rotary year comes to an end a new year begins! Thank you to District Governor Dave and District Governor Nominee, Elaine, for their leadership the past year and the passion they brought to leading District 5580! I feel very fortunate that I was able to be a part of this team.

What is a pollinator garden and why is it important?
A garden that features flowers that bloom throughout the summer and provide food to pollinators such as bees, butterflies and other species. Sadly pollinator population size and diversity is on the decline in North America due to habitat loss, invasive species, pesticides and disease.
Conserving pollinators is critical — and you can help! Plant your seeds or native flowering plants in your yard or balcony, take a photo by August 31 and submit to envirocomm5580@gmail.com. Your district environmental committee will choose a winner and the photos will be published in the September district newsletter.
How long has it been since your logo caught your eye? When I look at these fresh Rotary logos, it makes me curious and think that something’s happening here. As a long-time member, I might walk a little prouder or, as a non-member, I might be tempted to research Rotary (especially if the info is right there)
However you perceive it, it evokes emotion, action and a fresh start, something we all can use from time to time!

GLOBAL GRANT PROCESS FOR ROTARY DISTRICT 5580
ROTARY YEAR 2024-25
Global Grant requests from potential international partners must be submitted to the D5580 International Service Chairperson (DISC). The DISC is the primary contact point and will assist with the district level process.
The last month of the Rotary year is June, so as we look back on our accomplishments during DG Dave Long’s year, we can be thankful. Thankful that COVID is mostly behind us and that we have returned to a sense of normalcy again where we can freely move amongst friends and associates to make things happen, including helping those who cannot help themselves.

At the Alzheimer's / Dementia Rotary Action Group (ADRAG), we are dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and fostering hope for those affected by these challenging conditions.

The number one thing most clubs want to know is what is happening around the District, but we can't help spread the word if we don't know what your club is up to.

Bismarck Rotary Club members enjoyed a night out at the ballpark on Monday, June 10, that included a ballpark meal of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and watermelon (among other offerings). After a rain delay, members cheered on the Bismarck Larks as they played the Minot Hot Tots in the Northwoods League. The club also sold 50/50 raffle tickets - this fun, fellowship event was also a fundraiser for the club's Arboretum project.

The Dickinson Rotary Club, in cooperation with the Dickinson American Legion Post 3, sponsored its annual Armed Forces Day luncheon to celebrate those currently serving and those who have served. Our speaker, Col. Cody Volk, brought us up to date on the new Dickinson Service Center that's been 30 years in the planning, and other ND National Guard initiatives. We took Rotary on the Road, meeting offsite at a larger venue, with lunch catered. Veterans were admitted free and received a gift of cookies from the Girl Scouts.

Dickinson Rotarians combined Rotary's focus on the environment and literacy by participating in the Dickinson Public Library's summer kick off. We gave away 500 bottles of water and recycled the empties! Thank you to Rotarians Natashia Cushman and Corey Lee for setting up, visiting with the crowds and distributing free water courtesy of our Rotary Club. We gave away 500 bottles of water with the Rotary logo! We are happy to include this project as part of our 'clean water for everyone' initiative and our literacy initiative.

Two people keep the Dickinson Club's records up to date, ensuring smooth transitions, accurate record keeping and timely financials. On Administrative Professional Day, we gratefully recognized our longtime secretary, Kari Shea, and treasurer, Brad Fong, for their tireless work on behalf of Rotary and the Dickinson Rotary Club. In keeping with Rotary's environmental theme, we presented them with Gerber daisies to beautify their homes.
