PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE
It's traditional that the first Rotarian magazine of the Rotary year carries a profile of the incoming RI president and his or her family. I've always read those profiles with interest, never giving much thought to the possibility that one day, I might be the one bringing a writer from the magazine to my Rotary club meeting! I have never liked a lot of attention, and the idea of having my picture on the magazine cover made me a bit uncomfortable. But when I saw the photo the editors chose, I smiled. Because the star of that picture definitely isn't me, or even my wife, Esther. It's the flock of flamingos, none of which could care less about Rotary, all strutting past us in the same direction. DISTRICT GOVERNOR MESSAGE
Our windshield is bigger than our rearview mirror.  With 2018 rapidly coming to an end, we are offered the chance to look into that rearview mirror and reflect on our accomplishments, our successes, and all of the moments that brought us to the point we are at now.    It is also a time to check-in on our journey and take account for where we are headed.

Yikes!  How are we already at the end of 2018?  This is a time when many people review their financial picture and do last minute planning, including considering charitable contributions to reduce their tax liability for 2018.

There is still time to make a year-end contribution and we encourage you to make Rotary your charity of choice for year-end giving.

WATER IS LIFE ON THE NAVAJO NATION
Submitted by: Kevin Harmon, past-president of Noon Rotary Club of Minot

Last May, I was contacted by several former Minot Noon Rotarians who are currently members of the Sun Lakes Rotary Club in Sun Lakes, Arizona to review a service project they are working on.  To gauge the interest of our local district, I shared the Sun Lakes Rotary project scope and overview with District 5580 leaders Bob McLean, District 5580 DG-Nominee and Keith Broke, District 5580 Rotary Foundation Chair. Here is Sun Lakes Rotary member John McCoy’s explanation of the Navajo water project:
