The Annual Programs Fund (APF) is the lifeblood of our Foundation.  Contributions to APF give strength to our programs each year because they carry the "brand identity" of Rotarians.  That is, our Rotary Foundation's programs are identified by Rotarians, supported by Rotarian contributions and administered by Rotarians.  The Rotary Foundation is YOU!  It is our "Every Rotarian, Every Year" contributions to the APF that support all of our educational and humanitarian programs.  The Foundation's good works in the world are only limited by our imagination, actions and contributions.

What is a Sustaining Member?
A Sustaining Member contributes a minimum of $100 to The Rotary Foundation (TRF), and can continue to add dollars at his/her convenience until reaching $1,000.

What is a Paul Harris Fellow?
A Paul Harris Fellow is someone who has achieved the $1,000 level of giving to TRF.  Members may continue to receive additional Paul Harris recognition when they have reached subsequent levels of $1,000 in donations to TRF.  PH Fellows receive a special Rotary Pin to wear that signifies their PH level.

What are Matching Points?
In order to encourage giving to the Annual Programs Fund, TRF awards matching points (dollar for dollar) to contributors, and these points count toward a member's Paul Harris achievement.  For example, when a member donates $50, he/she receives 50 points.  Those points are stored in the member's account, and when sufficient points have been accumulated, your Club Foundation Chair will request that TRF convert the member points into dollars in order to achieve the member's next level of Paul Harris achievement. A member must achieve a PH by donating $1,000 in cash before he/she can transfer any recognition points.  Review the Foundation Recognition Points Fact Sheet in this site for detailed information about recognition points.

What is a Major Donor?
A Major Donor is a member who has given $10,000 US to the Rotary Foundation.  Major gifts can include cash, securities, planned gifts or pledges to the APF, the Permanent Fund, PolioPlus Partners or specific restricted gift programs, such as the Rotary Centers for International Studies.

What is a Benefactor?
A Benefactor is someone who has made a $1,000 contribution to the Permanent Fund or through a Will or estate plan.

How do I contribute?
There are several ways to contribute to the Annual Programs Fund.  You can do this by:

  • Ask your Club Treasurer to invoice you with your normal dues statement.  Your Club Treasurer will then submit your payment to TRF.
  • Give your contribution to your Club Foundation Chair and he/she will submit it to TRF.
  • Contribute electronically by credit card.
  • Set up an automatic deduction from your bank account to TRF.

I will be glad to answer your questions about the Annual Fund.  Please do not hesitate to contact me for additional information.  I am also available to help the Club Foundation Chairs in completing any of the required Contribution or Transfer Forms.
