Thank you. Thank you all District 5580 Rotarians for your continued support of our Camp RYLA. I truly believe we have one of the best RYLA programs around and this year 130 students got to experience it for themselves thanks to your continued support. The 27th annual District 5580 RYLA was held in Crookston, MN July 8-14.
We had 42 volunteers arrive from all over the globe. These amazing leaders are a mix of past campers and Rotarians who know that while it might be a lot of hours (120 hours just at RYLA!), there’s not much that is quite as rewarding as volunteering at RYLA.
The students were immersed in a week of learning and applying concepts from the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, FISH!, and others. They heard from Kristi Huber, President of the United Way of Cass Clay, Ted Schick, Motivation Speaker, and Kelly Krenzel, Founder of Hope Blooms. And they learned from each other during a cultural learning exercise (Bafa Bafa), low ropes courses, and committees that run camp. They also created friendships that can last as lifetime in their family groups. But why not here it from the students themselves. Watch this video to hear some of the camp speeches presented at the end of each camp. Link: https://youtu.be/MrBqp0fX9JU
