November is foundation month.  When I think of this I can’t help but think of all the great projects District 5580 is doing around the world.  This year we’re building a school in Kenya and another in Guatemala; we’re building a clinic in Tanzania and another in Bolivia.  We are doing WASH (water and sanitation in schools) in Guatemala and Honduras and a portable water purification unit capable of purifying 30,000 gallons per day (through reverse osmosis) was recently delivered to Puerto Rico to help those affected by the 2017 hurricane.
District 5580 is also sponsoring Freddie Campbell as a Global Scholar studying for her Master’s Degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution at Durham University in the UK.  District 5580 is partnering with other USA Districts, Rotary and 3 Universities in the Ukraine with the intent to provide a critical analysis of water security within the broader context of peace and stability.

District 5580 has many projects in India including water and sanitation in schools; Smart classrooms for 43 schools in D3212; a dialysis project in D3120; a cancer screening project near Nagercoil and many other projects still in the draft mode.

Also, we cannot forget the $65,000 that was awarded to our D5580 clubs for District grants to fund community projects.  All this would not be possible without your financial support to the Rotary Annual Fund!
