Jennifer Jones

President 2022-23

(Presidential message retrieved from: https://my.rotary.org/en/news-media/office-president/presidential-message)

May 2023

I believe it is a time in our world for brave, courageous, intentional leadership.

Anni shared a very personal story about coping with a panic attack, something that I have also experienced. The outpouring and response to this story have been tremendous and punctuate how critical it is that we acknowledge not only our strengths but our vulnerabilities too.

Submitted by: Tim LeClair, D5580 Foundation Chair

If you have heard my Foundation presentation, you will know I strongly encourage supporting The Rotary Foundation (TRF) annual fund.  Your contributions to the annual fund are invested by TRF for three years and then are made available to our district and world fund to fund the grants that enable us to have a positive impact on our local and international communities.  Your dues to Rotary International do not fund our grant programs.  It is your contributions to the Annual Fund that fund our District and Global Grants.

ROTARY HISTORY

This picture is of Chesley R. Perry, the longest serving General Secretary of Rotary International.

Perry started as Part time Secretary of the nascent organization in 1910 and became full time Secretary in 1912. During his 32 year tenure as Secretary, he started and  edited the Rotary magazine, opened Rotary’s offices in Geneva, Switzerland, and oversaw the growth of Rotary from a few dozen clubs to over 5000 at his retirement in 1942. In the last year of his tenure he was made General Secretary of the organization, the highest staff position in Rotary International.
