Every month since I joined Rotary, I’ve looked forward to reading this magazine, especially the opening essay from our Rotary president. I’ll admit that as much as I appreciate a digital copy, I still revel in the tactile sensation of sitting down and leafing through the glossy pages. They are a treasure trove of photos and memorable stories about our great organization — the one we all know and love. I have learned so much over the years about service projects and lives that each of you have transformed.
The District 5580 Governor Change of Gavel was held at the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth, MN on June 22, 2022! What a FUN way to celebrate this past year with DG Keith and #ImagineRotary for this coming year with incoming District Governor Kay Biga!

July Eco Challenge: Walk, bike, swim, try public transportation or carpool!
In honor of these lovely summer days, leave your car behind and try walking to the next Rotary meeting. Alternatively, perhaps you have public transportation available - or get to know your fellow members better and set up a carpool! According to the World Resources Institute, almost three-quarters of global transportation emissions are from road vehicles. The US and Canada are both among the top 10 global emitters. According to the EPA, transportation emissions increased more in absolute terms than any other sector between 1990 and 2020. We can help to reverse this trend by minimizing the time we spend in our vehicles. Happy, healthy summer!
On March 9, 2022, a long time North Dakota ritual sponsored by the Bismarck Rotary Club was repeated for the 100th time.
The Honorable Doug Burgum, Governor of the State of North Dakota, received the annual report on the state of Scouting from representatives selected by the Northern Lights Council of the BSA at the noon meeting of the Bismarck Rotary Club.
The ritual began in 1922 before the Northern Lights Council as it exists today was formed. The idea was developed by Bismarck Rotarians who were involved in the newly developed idea of scouting and since then has grown into a tradition of the Bismarck Rotary Club, the Office of the Governor, and the northern Lights Council of the BSA.
WE CAN ONLY SHARE YOUR CLUB'S NEWS, IF WE KNOW ABOUT YOUR CLUB'S NEWS!
The number one thing most clubs want to know is what is happening around the District, but we can't help spread the word if we don't know what your club is up to.
Please submit a summary of your club events, news and projects to Renae Ronquist and Gloria Mink by the 10th of each month. We can include information in our Monday Minutes and in our newsletter.
Hello fellow Rotarians. Please share this message with your Rotary Club.
The Rotary Club of Superior is seeking paddlers and volunteers for our Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival, August 26-27 in beautiful Superior, WI. This year’s charitable partner is 23rd Veteran, a local organization whose mission is to provide happier, healthier lives for veterans living with trauma.
Keith Brokke asked the local 5-clubs to do a joint project related to the environment. After some planning we decided to partner with River Keepers in Fargo/Moorhead to pick up trash along the river near where our new Natural Playground will be constructed.
